Welcome to RHOK

Two things done
properly

Authentic people. Honest hard work. Unforgettable hunts. That is how we define RHOK.

First and foremost we are a waterfowl outfitter. Fully guided duck and goose hunts across 32,000+ acres of Southeast Kansas — dry ag fields, flooded shallow-water impoundments, potholes, small lakes and rivers. Scouted daily, set wherever the birds are working, with two full lodges and home-cooked meals for your group.

Alongside the hunts we run our own kennel, which is why every retriever working beside you in the blind was developed here. Same principle on both sides: personalized, patient, and built to last longer than one season.

Why Red Horizon

What sets the
operation apart

01

We hunt where the birds are

Nothing is set on a schedule. Setups move daily across dry fields, flooded impoundments, potholes, lakes and rivers based on active scouting. Mallards and greater Canada geese are the bread and butter, with a wide mix of ducks and geese depending on conditions.

02

The dogs are ours

Every retriever in the field came through the kennel. That means dogs that mark, honor, handle and stay steady in a crowded blind — not rentals borrowed for the season.

03

Conservation-minded

RHOK is committed to responsible ownership and preserving the habitat we hunt. Education is part of the job, not a marketing line.

04

One group at a time

Lodging, meals and guides are built around your party — 2 to 12 hunters. Brian or Joey is in direct contact with your group before you ever arrive.

The Kennel

A gun dog you can
actually live with

With a limited number of dogs in training, every retriever gets developed for the home as much as the field.

Programs run from the Puppy Primer at eight weeks through Beginner and Advanced Gun-Dog, and into hunt-test preparation for owners who want to compete. Dogs learn to control impulses, thrive under handler guidance, and increase success in the field.

They also join us on daily errands, relax during office hours, and interact with our families as one of our own. Training happens on 32,000+ acres of Southeast Kansas ground with water access and varied terrain, in kennels with heating and cooling, daily exercise and socialization.

When she started hunting this year I was blown away by her drive and ability to find birds — the way Brian trains the dogs to not only be amazing retrievers but also the best hunting buddy a guy could ask for.
